Early Fall Fun

We have enjoyed getting to know the city a little! Here are some pictures from recent visits to the Museum of Science & Industry and the Lincoln Park Zoo, a free zoo downtown. The zoo was great- the lions were roaring, and the polar bears were playing with us, swimming laps and coming right up to the glass. I even got a high five! We also had a great visit from Dad and Mama C! Their "grandoggies" miss them terribly!

Fall is settling in here, and we are.... well, Jason, is loving it. Betsy is trying to stay warm. The leaves are turning and the nights are cool, and perfect for walks. We plan to have a great fall!

Settling in with the Sista'!

Allison came to visit us a few weeks ago during our first several days in our new home. We were excited to have her here for Jason's first "official" Sunday as Pastor of Lombard Assembly. We took pictures of him like a kid on his first day of Kindergarten! He's such a good sport. We had a great time shopping, visiting the Hancock Tower, and stuffing her full of the amazing Chicago-land food..... from Portillo's chocolate cake to Oberweis Dairy milkshakes. (Anyone think these sisters have a sweet tooth?) Jason is a huge fan of White Castle, so we girls did our best to support him during an afternoon "Slider Adventure!" They don't call them sliders for nothin' folks....

Happy 29th Birthday Jason!!!

Saturday was Jason's 29th birthday! We woke up in Kansas City, after a few days with Dad and Connie, and then headed to St. Louis to celebrate with the Davis family.

One thing Jason has talked about since I met him is the fond memory of his dad always making homemade ice cream as he was growing up. He still asks his dad to make it when we go home! I decided that he should have his own homemade ice cream maker so that he can continue and create some of those same great memories for our kids!

Another of our great loves is roller coasters... We planned Monday to go to Six Flags, and drove 40 minutes to discover they were no longer open during the week! It was a very sad moment, but allowed us a full free day to spend with great friends!!

Take me out to the ball game... then take me out with the Miles'

Our last days before our new life in Chicago included a quick trip to St. Louis for Betsy's very first Cardinal's game, and some quality time with Allison and Josh, who we will miss dearly!!!

The Return to Chicago! Lombard, Here we Come!

We will be traveling back to the Chicago area July 12-20th. Please pray for us during these nine days as we spend time with the church board, the members, and become more acquainted with the community and the IL District Council of the AG. On this trip, we will receive the vote of the congregation. We are so excited about this transition, and we are grateful for the support of all of you!

Whitsitt Family Fun Day 2008!

Jason and I just returned from the annual Whitsitt Family Fun Day celebration in Kansas City. We had a great weekend of swimming, backyard ball games, fireworks, and barbeque. Long live WFFD!
